East Side of Lake Winnipeg Planning Initiative
Provincial Web site for the wide area planning process for land and resource use on the east side of Lake Winnipeg, which includes a vast tract of Manitoba’s boreal forest.

Manitoba Conservation
The departments of Natural Resources and Environment were amalgamated to become Manitoba Conservation in 1999. Programs of this department include parks, forestry, wildlife, fisheries, pollution prevention, air quality, and environmental reviews.

Manitoba Forestry Branch
This branch of Manitoba Conservation manages provincial Crown forests (including forests in provincial parks) by setting forest harvest levels, monitoring forest management activities, ensuring forests are regenerated, providing protection from insects and diseases, and collecting revenues for use of Crown timber.

Manitoba Parks & Natural Areas Branch
This branch of Manitoba Conservation is responsible for the establishment of new parks and other protected areas (e.g. ecological reserves) and the management of existing parks.

The national agency responsible for national parks, national marine conservation areas, and national historic sites.

Riding Mountain National Park
